When the OEM Spare Becomes the Bottleneck
An imported fan or impeller fails, and the equipment it serves stops with it. The fan is rarely the most expensive item in the plant, but a genuine spare shipped from Europe can take months to arrive. In that time the process line, dryer, scrubber or cooling tower stays offline or runs at reduced duty. Replacing an imported fan or impeller is therefore less an issue of price than of availability. SINDFAN manufactures replacement fan impellers for imported equipment, working from the failed part itself rather than from the original supplier's catalogue.
What We Need From You
Two options, either is sufficient to start:
- The old impeller, even if damaged, corroded or cracked — we measure what remains and reconstruct the missing geometry.
- A dimensioned drawing, or a drawing plus the old part for verification.
Where the original material grade is unknown, we recommend a material based on the duty: air stream, contaminants, temperature and operating speed.
Reverse Engineering the Geometry
Reverse engineering an impeller is not simply copying an outline. The parameters that determine whether a replacement fan impeller fits and performs are measured individually:
- Blade count and blade form — including whether the blades are backward-curved, forward-curved or radial.
- Blade pitch and inlet/outlet angles.
- Bore diameter, keyway width and depth, and hub length.
- Overall diameter, impeller width and inlet diameter.
- Rotation direction and mounting arrangement on the shaft.
These measurements are converted into manufacturing data, so the new impeller mounts on the existing shaft and runs in the existing housing without modification to the machine.
Materials
We manufacture replacement impellers in aluminium, GRP, nylon and steel. The choice follows the application:
- Aluminium — light rotating mass, lower starting load on the motor, suitable for general ventilation and air-handling duty.
- GRP — used where the air stream is corrosive, such as fume extraction, scrubbers and chemical processes.
- Nylon — for smaller impellers where light weight and low cost matter.
- Steel — where mechanical strength and resistance to wear or higher temperatures are the priority.
Balancing
Every impeller is balanced to ISO 1940 G4.0. Unbalance is the usual reason a replacement impeller damages bearings or produces vibration shortly after installation, so balancing is treated as part of the specification rather than an optional finishing step.
Lead Time: Weeks, Not Months
Typical lead time for a reverse-engineered impeller is 2 to 4 weeks, compared with months for OEM spares sourced from Europe. For a plant holding a stopped line, that difference is usually the entire justification for the exercise.

OEM and ODM Work — MOQ From 1 Piece
We accept OEM and ODM projects alongside single-piece replacement work. Minimum order quantity starts from 1 piece, so a one-off spare for an imported fan is a normal order, not an exception. If you need several identical impellers for a fleet of similar machines, the same geometry can be repeated from the recorded data.
